Data Center Administrator

Reporting to the IT Manager, Technical Services, this position is responsible for the following:

  •   Ensures control, efficiency, reliability, security, maintenance and support of data center environments;
  •   Manages, analyzes, diagnoses and supports the data center including server/storage hardware, operating problems, configurations, security settings/privileges and remote access;
  •   Maintains infrastructure documentation and configuration diagrams;
  •   Implements security protocol for the network, including remote access, ensuring proper settings and privileges are in compliance with IT Security Policies and Procedures;
  •   Provides second level technical support to the IT Support Desk;
  •   Works with technical designers and DBAs to implement server and storage architectures using industry best practices;
  •   Monitors/tests performance and provides performance statistics and reports;
  •   Assists with management of security solutions (incl. firewall, anti-virus and intrusion detection systems);
  •   Maintains network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches and UPS's;
  •   Performs server and security audits;

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  •   Post-secondary Diploma in Computer Studies from an accredited technical college;
  •   Completion of a Microsoft Certification program in Windows Server;
  •   Cisco certification would be considered an asset;
  •   Three to five (3-5) years of data center administration experience;
  •   Thorough knowledge and experience in Windows, Exchange, Active Directory, Visio, Office, Virtual Private Network, Remote Access, WAN technologies (routers, switches, firewalls, TCP/IP);
  •   Subject matter expert in server and storage design and support;
  •   In-depth understanding of storage techniques, theories, principles and practices;
  •   Hands on experience with Storage Area Network (SAN) technologies;
  •   Experience with backup and restore technologies;
  •   Experience designing enterprise-wide LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, VMs, virtual networks, etc.;
  •   Working knowledge of VoIP/IP Telephony systems, software and hardware;
  •   Knowledgeable in server load balancing and clustering;
  •   Advanced knowledge of Active Directory/Global Catalogue;
  •   Strong knowledge of VMWARE and Virtual technologies;
  •   Experience in Microsoft Exchange 2013 / Office365;
  •   Experience and knowledge of Cloud services and technologies;
  •   Experience in Microsoft Exchange 2013 / Office365;
  •   Knowledge of disaster recovery planning and techniques;
  •   Knowledge of data center/server room security (incl. HVAC, environmental alarms, access restrictions);
  •   Familiarity working in a SQL data environment;
  •   Experience administering and implementing Citrix would be considered an asset;
  •   In-depth knowledge of software licensing and compliance;
  •   Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced and deadline-driven environment;
  •   Proven analytical, creative problem solving and collaborative decision making abilities;
  •   Strong leadership, interpersonal, customer service and teambuilding skills;
  •   Strong Written and oral communication skills;
  •   Project Management skills is a definite asset.

Salary: CG 36: $60,411.00 - $67,431.00 annually
