Clean Air Zone

NLC’s Clean Air Zone Initiative is an on-going campaign to alert the public to the harmful effects on the environment caused by vehicle idling. The campaign is supported through Natural Resources Canada, the Provincial Department of Environment and Conservation as well as the Provincial Lung Association. Vehicle emissions are a major cause of climate change, urban smog and acid rain, some of the biggest global problems facing us today. Exterior signage has been placed throughout NLC’s retail store network to educate customers and transportation providers to positively impact air pollution by ceasing unnecessary idling of their vehicles. Information brochures were distributed through NLC stores in the fall of 2008.
