Wine Fest 2008 was a successful event for customers and wine makers! The event spanned 5 days from October 14th to October 18th and showcased over 330 wines through sampling sessions, A Premiere Tasting Event, a Winemakers Luncheon, and a spectacular Gala Dinner. A portion of the proceeds from all Wine Fest events was donated to the Easter Seals Foundation.
This year the Charity Wine Auction, sponsored by NLC and Shallaway – Newfoundland and Labrador Youth in Chorus was a huge success, raising over $30,000 for the many projects of Shallaway.
Special Selections Night was even bigger this year. Consumers were able to explore over 45 premium wines from around the world with delectable cheese for this one night only in an intimate setting.
Thousands of guests attended the Consumer Sampling Sessions to learn about a variety of wines while sampling and socializing with friends at a new location, St. John’s Convention Centre.
A new tasting event was introduced to Wine Fest this year, A Premiere Tasting Event, held at the Johnson GEO CENTRE was extremely well attended and a successful tasting. This event featured wines from Chateau Palmer & Alter Ego, wonderfully paired with 5 premiere appetizer portions, prepared by The Fairmont Newfoundland. Bernard de Laage de Meux, Marketing & Communications Director, Chateau Palmer spoke during the event and shared with all 75 guests personally his appreciation for exquisite Bordeaux wines.
The Wine Makers Luncheon was an exquisite event that served Australian De Bortoli Wines accompanied with delicious food that paired exceptionally well with all dishes, prepared by Yellow Belly Brewery & Public House. David Slingsby-Smith educated and shared his Australian Wine Industry experiences to over 140 guests.
This year’s Gala Dinner was a fabulous, high class event that closed out the most successful Wine Fest yet. Held at The Rooms, this event featured a Bordeaux theme that was carried throughout this entire event from the décor, food, music and the guests themselves. Bernard de Laage de Meux, Marketing & Communications Director, Chateau Palmer spoke throughout this elegant event. Bernard addressed 170 guests and shared with them his knowledge of and appreciation for the exquisite Bordeaux wines that accompanied an exceptional meal, prepared by Red Oak Catering. NLC was proud to produce the most successful Gala Dinner and looks forward to creating an outstanding event again next year!
